American Financial Realty Trust cancelled presentations and meetings scheduled for the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts’ REITWeek just days before the multi-day event began in New York City this month. The move followed a stern note of displeasure with the company’s stock price by chairman Lewis Ranieri and prompted speculation that the company might be pursuing what one analyst termed a significant strategic event.
